#9 Writing Weekly vs. Writing Daily

On my day #10 of daily writing (tomorrow) I plan to ask on Farcaster if there are any other folks who might be interested to get a head start on 2025 by starting to build a daily writing muscle right now.

I will ask in the FirstDraft channel where aspiring writers share their weekly writing and get paid back part of their subscription fees. It's a great model, but not a sustainable one for daily writing.

Daily writing is a completely different type of a muscle. While you can do weekly writing at any time when you find inspiration or basically at any free time when you feel like it - and I know it's not the best way to approach it like this but it is still possible and it works. For daily writing this approach won't work. You'd get overwhelmed on day two or three and you'd quit.

Daily writing must become part of your daily schedule and it needs to become a habit like brushing teeth. Otherwise it won't work and you'll be constantly fighting with time. What worked for me in the past was a habit formed for the evenings, I was traveling a lot and single so it was easy for me to have a "glass of wine + writing" habit after gym or dinner.

These days I've switched to mornings because they're easier to control - so I have a coffee, news, shower and second coffee + writing sequence. It can adapt to almost any schedule, I simply need to wake up early enough to be able to finish the whole sequence which takes about 60-90mins when not rushed.

I am curious how many ambitious people I will find in Farcaster circles.

What do you think? - Would you join daily writing challenge or maybe you already write daily!

Let me know on Farcaster! Or find me on Twitter/X or LinkedIn!

Till tomorrow! 🤠
